Woman of Vegan stands for ethical, sustainable and high quality long lasting pieces. We are committed to manufacturing ethically, with respect for the people and the planet.
Our products are produced in very small batches in a slow/artisan way.
Where and how are your products made?
The garments of our first Winter 2020 capsule collection are being made entirely in small factories in Europe. Our knitwear collection is being carefully produced in a knit specialised factory in Bulgaria, while our turtleneck jerseys are currently being manufactured in a small factory in Lotz, Poland.
We are also planning to launch one shirt in collaboration with our fair trade supplier that produces in Bangladesh. The whole production process is strictly supervised by the Fair Wear Foundation, is PETA approved vegan and GOTS certified. Although our goal from now on is to keep our production as close to home as possible, with this shirt we are also super happy to support fair trade initiatives in countries like Bangladesh.
The current garments from "Activism meets Fashion" collection were also sourced from Fair Trade and sustainable initiatives in India and Bangladesh. Strictly supervised by the Fair Wear Foundation, PETA approved vegan, GOTS certified and some products also carry the registered mark Climate Neutral. However, these products will not be restocked. For all future collections, our plan is to produce 100% in Europe.
We are also committed to keeping things as transparent as possible. We are working on a new Production Break Down feature for every product page. You will be able to access detailed information on materials, production facility and a complete price breakdown.
Our fair trade manufactures in India and Bangladesh hold the following certifications:
Fair Wear Foundation:
Fair Wear Foundation is an organisation committed to find a fairer way to make clothes. They work with garment manufactures, brands and workers to improve labour conditions in garment factories.
Being a FWF member guarantees a strict supervised production throughout the supply chain. The organisation conducts independent checks at three levels: at the brand level to see which current business practices and management decisions are likely to create problems down the line at the factory level and which are helping support better labour conditions; at the factories to inspect working conditions; and lastly, by hearing directly from the garment workers. These thorough checks provide the starting point for real change to occur.
The GOTS® (Global Organic Textile Standard) is a guarantee of the organic status of textiles; from the harvesting of raw cotton to dispatch of the finished garments whilst ensuring all is done in an environmentally and socially responsible manner.
OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certifies the absence of harmful chemical substances in products thanks to the “Confidence in textile” label.
PETA approved vegan:
We believe cruelty is one fashion statement we can all do without. Our apparel is made from 100% vegan materials, so you can be confident that no harm came to anyone during its creation. While our designs are printed using vegan water-based ink, our manufactures are PETA Approved Vegan.
EarthPositive®, our partner supplier in India, holds one of the most progressive sustainable manufacture facilities in the world. Garments are made in a factory entirely powered by green renewable energy and through a combination of innovative product design with low impact organic agriculture, the production carbon footprint was reduced by 90% (calculation certified under the PAS2050 standard by the UK Carbon Trust).
Having taken the greenhouse gas emissions to pre-industrial levels, all products from EarthPositive® carry the registered mark “Climate Neutral”.
It has been calculated that a single T-shirt saves around 7 kilograms of CO2e compared to a conventional T-shirt, whereas a hooded sweatshirt saves up to 28 kgs.
